44th Annual Foundation Walk Raises Over $95,000
Nearly 100 teams and more than 1,100 walkers gathered on November 2 for the 44th Annual AHRC Foundation Walk, raising over $95,000 in support of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Long Island.
Teams That Led the Way
Team Amanda 2025 led all fundraising with more than $13,000 collected. Team Rugby brought together housemates and families from Westbury, Mighty-Marcus rallied school communities, and Go TY TY! — led by Leng Lao and her son Tyler — continued its tradition of turning personal gratitude into community support.
A Morning of Community
Roughly 100 volunteers kept the morning running smoothly, and the ceremonial ribbon-cutting took place beneath a banner reading “Moving ahead, leaving no one behind” — a message that captured the spirit of the day.
Where the Funds Go
Proceeds from the Walk support education and early intervention for children, residential and community programs for adults, healthcare access, guardianship advocacy, self-advocacy initiatives, and transition services that prepare young adults for greater independence.
More than an annual tradition, the Walk is a visible demonstration of our community's commitment to people with developmental disabilities — and this year's turnout proved that commitment is stronger than ever.
