2025 Grantmaking: Protecting What Matters, Building What's Next
At its Annual Meeting in November, the Nassau County AHRC Foundation Board approved a series of grants that reflect both stability and strategic growth in services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities on Long Island.
Institutional Support
The Board approved unrestricted institutional support grants to three partner agencies:
- Brookville Center for Children's Services — $200,000
- Citizens Options Unlimited — $50,000
- Advantage Care Health Centers — $25,000
These funds help sustain education programs, residential services, community inclusion initiatives, and specialized healthcare for the people these organizations serve.
Strategic Program Grants
The Board also committed more than $300,000 to strategic program grants. The largest initiative launches the Wheatley Farms & Arts Center Therapeutic Riding and Equine-Assisted Activities Program in Brookville, funding horse acquisition, adaptive equipment, staff training, facility preparation, and professional consultation.
Additional targeted grants will support the expansion of autism education and family support, the growth of self-advocacy initiatives, guardianship and legal advocacy services, adaptive recreation, and healthcare initiatives for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Together, this year's grantmaking balances protecting essential services with building innovative programs that expand opportunity for the Long Island I/DD community — protecting what matters, and building what's next.
